Invitation to media briefing on the outcomes of the Civil Society Pre-Conference addressing violence and discrimination based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE)

The Collective of Advocates on Sexual Rights in Africa (CASRA), comprised of African Men for Sexual Health and Rights (AMSHeR), the Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL), Heartland Alliance and the Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA), in collaboration with Pan Africa ILGA, invite members of the media to a briefing on the outcomes of the Civil Society Pre-Conference.

The civil society consultation is being held from 29 February to 2 March 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa, ahead of the first African Regional Seminar on addressing violence on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. The seminar, Finding Practical Solutions to Ending Violence and Discrimination based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression in Africa, which is hosted by the South African Human Rights Commission at the request of the South African government and with support from the South African Department of Justice and Department of International Relations and Co-operation.

Speakers from CASRA and national CSOs working in different African countries will be available to respond to questions from the media.
